2004-08-20 - 9:12 a.m. "NEW YORK -- MTV reality shows like "The Osbournes" and "Newlyweds" receive a ton of publicity. "PoweR Girls," MTV's next reality show, is all about publicity. The cable network announced Wednesday that "PoweR Girls," starring publicist-to-the-stars Lizzie Grubman, will premiere in spring 2005. The series, picked up for six episodes, will follow Grubman and her public relations team behind the velvet rope as they live, work and play in Manhattan, Los Angeles, the Hamptons and Miami. The show's grammatically incorrect title � with a capital P and R � is a nod to the oft-used two-letter abbreviation for public relations. "I'm looking forward to MTV viewers seeing the hard work and long hours it takes to run your own business," PR maven Grubman said in a statement Wednesday. "It's difficult, but it's also a ton of fun and there is nothing that I would rather do." Grubman, 32, is famously known for serving 37 days in jail for a 2001 incident in which she backed her sport utility vehicle into a crowd of Hamptons clubgoers, injuring 16. According to Grubman's Web site, her celebrity clientele includes the likes of Britney Spears, Russell Simmons, Sean "P. Diddy" Combs, Gloria Estefan, among others. And Grubman's name can regularly be found in tabloid pages. "The world of Lizzie Grubman and her girls is as exciting and dynamic as it is compelling," said MTV's senior vice president of production, Tony DiSanto, said in the statement. "The goal of 'PoweR Girls' is to pull back the curtain on celebrity and nightlife publicity, while also examining all the real life drama of this amazing group of characters." Grubman said her life "is coming full circle for me." She started her career as an MTV intern." This world is fucking pathetic.
