We had a wicked time at the Open last night.

As a Capriati fan I was THRILLED to see her pull through. It was a match full of drama, decent playing but not great playing and a definite sense of the their strong rivalry.

The line calls were for shit. Not just the big controversial one against Serena but throughout the match against both. But do not be mistaken (and just check the statistics) Jennifer deserved to win.

Also I have noted that many people attending the Open know shit about the sport and seem to think, because it is marketed as such, that this game is just like basketball and football and baseball and NASCAR, where it is ok to scream out at any time during the match.

It isn’t, oafs.

It’s awesome to yell out and show your support and what not in between points, even during a really exciting rally but when a player is in the process of serving…shut the fuck up.

Tennis is a game won and lost largely in the mind, it requires concentration.

I’m all for making it exciting and making it an event, it’s great for the sport, but the thing that attracted me (and countless other diehards, no doubt) is the emphasis on the cerebral aspect of the sport. Most pros can play through a bomb drop but that isn’t the point.

When she is serving, Serena doesn’t give a shit if some toothless fuck in the stands thinks its “your world baby girl” and when Jennifer is preparing to serve to close out the set, she doesn’t care if some drunk twat in the upper tier is “on your side beautiful”. And those of us around them don’t care, either. So…SHUT UP already.

Oh and my favorite is when, during a women’s match, some hetero men feel it is ok to catcall. I mean these are pros, you idiots. Women who are where they are because they have accomplished something, they have a talent, a natural gift in many cases. They deserve respect. Not yelled comments about their appearance, whether intended maliciously or not. I think players are hot as well but would never dream of yelling out “Hey Tommy, hot ass! Pretty baby show us that bulge!!!” or something to that effect.

So men…go home and whack off to Serena if you want. Fantasize about Jen’s bad girl side but please, please, please…KEEP IT TO YOURSELF and show the ladies some respect.

Anyway, although I am ranting, it was awesome and I am glad we were there.

I am off to a doctor’s appointment. I am DREADING this. I hate going to the doctor so much. My stress is through the roof and my anxiety most definitely is high. It’s just a damned checked up! But still…

I love, love, love the show Little Britain. Has anyone else fallen in love with these two???

Awright…off to have my balls squeezed.
